I love our new camera

Briana had her 1st soccer practice of the season last night so I took our new camera to try it out on action/sports shots. I love it! Here are some sample pictures:

My brick at Ohio Stadium

Last Christmas Briana and Alex purchased a brick for me at Ohio Stadium. I received a replica then, but the real one was finally installed at the Stadium last month:

 

The brick is just outside the south end zone gates. We will see it at every game.

1st day of 2nd grade

Briana started 2nd grade this morning. Here she is with her teacher, Mrs. Bragg:

My little baby is growing up quick. We are really proud of her!

We are ready for football season!

College football starts in less than 2 weeks, so the Turner family decided to take some family pictures on campus. It was a beautiful day in the low 70s and we took pictures by the stadium and Mirror Lake (in our Ohio State jerseys, of course).

New camera

This weekend, we purchased our 1st DSLR camera - the Nikon D60. It is very different from the digital cameras we have used in the past. First, it has removable lenses (we got a package deal that included a lense with a better zoom). It also has many more options that we are going to have to learn. Here are a couple of our 1st pictures. I'm sure there will be many more to come.

Afternoon with the OSU Football Players

The Ohio State football team had a charity event this afternoon and Briana and I attended. The team was raising money for CMT (a rare neurological disease) by having an NCAA Football 10 video game tournament among the athletes. The president of OSU's chapter of Uplifting Athletes was one of my students, Kurt Coleman. Here he is with Briana.
A majority of the team attended the event and Briana got over 25 autographs on this football (she also took the picture).
She wore her Terrelle Pryor #2 jersey and got to take a picture with the Buckeye's starting QB.It was a great daddy/daughter afternoon.

Home Theater

I have always wanted a theater in our home. A couple of weeks ago, my dream became a reality! As a reward for me getting tenure (and us staying in Hilliard), we decided to go ahead and install one. We had a consultant from Best Buy come by to recommend equipment; they came out to set everything up a couple of weeks later. We have a 52' LCD TV, a receiver (with 2 wireless speakers behind us), and a Blu Ray player. I am absolutely amazed at the picture quality of Blu Ray players (vs. DVD players). We joined Netflix so we would have plenty to watch (our Blu Ray player also downloads some movies/shows so we don't even have to wait for a disc to arrive). I also have my Xbox 360 connected to the system. We still would like to add some nice theater seats, but I'm sure we will in the near future.

I will be spending a lot of time in my home theater, especially when college football starts in another month!
