One Shining Moment

The NCAA basketball tournament is my favorite sports event each year. One of the Edison/Turner traditions is to have a family tournament bracket challenge each year. We started back when Gretchen and I lived in Waco in the mid-90's and have held one each year. Cari won the challenge last year and David won back in 2003 (thanks to his pick of Marquette). Gretchen also won one year. I have been lucky enough to win all other challenges, including this year. I say "lucky" because there is so much luck involved in winning. For example, Gretchen came in 2nd this year (Villanova really helped her out) and had a real good chance to win it going into the Final Four; she watched 0 games during the season. Also, Briana came in 5th by just choosing the names of teams she liked. Alex went "chalk" (i.e., he chose the favorite in each game) and tied for 3rd (David also went chalk and I'm calling shenanigans on that). I really enjoy filling out the brackets and finished in the 95th percentile on ESPN's challenge. Three years ago, I finished 66th out of several million entries (99.9 percentile) on ESPN. David bought a trophy for the family winner at Christmas, so I guess it will reside in the Turner household until next year's tournament.

After watching the championship game, I really love watching "One Shining Moment". It was extremely special 3 years ago when I was at the Final Four and saw it played live on the scoreboard in Indianapolis. I get chills every year I see it. Here is this year's version - enjoy:
