It's "M" Week!

This week in Columbus, we celebrate the greatest rivalry in sports (according to ESPN) - Ohio State vs. M (remember, we don't say the word in our household). The atmosphere is electric in town. Since Gretchen's school does not have athletics, they celebrate "Spirit Week" to coincide with The Game. Briana's after school program also celebrates the week. Everyone in town will be wearing Scarlet and Gray this week. You really have to experience this week to fully comprehend it's magnitude. Ohio State has won 4 in a row and 6 of 7 and will be heavy favorites this week (M is 3-8). M has never lost 8 games in a season before this year and hopefully the Buckeyes can put loss #9 on them. The best thing of all - I HAVE TICKETS! One of my former students emailed me on Monday and offered me his extra tickets. The seats are great; we will be very close to the field.

It's hard to believe this is the Buckeye's last regular season game (football season has flown by). It has been quite a run for the team. With a win, the Buckeyes will clinch their 4th consecutive conference title. They have not lost a regular season road conference game in over 3 years (15 games) and have gone 10-2, 12-1, 11-2, and 9-2 (to this point) over the last 4 years. It is so great to root for a team that you know is going to win most of their games. I have really only been nervous and thought we might lose a couple of games this year (although I will be nervous for The Game this week). It's going to be an emotional game because it is also Senior Day and some outstanding players will be playing their last game in Ohio Stadium. There is still a great chance Ohio State will be playing in one of the 5 BCS games; at a minimum, they will be playing in a New Year's Day bowl game.

To get you ready for The Game, check out this run by Beanie Wells against Illinois last week. Go Bucks!
